Updated: 28 March 2008
This page provides an NGSL preview for the Cycle 17 HST TAC.
Example spectra are shown from the near-UV to optical range (HST/STIS). The dispersion of these spectra is 2.7 A/pixel.
In some cases, extensions to 2 μm (IRTF/SpeX) are shown. Beyond 1 μm, the dispersion of these spectra is 2 A/pixel.
Example high-resolution (R ~ 40 000) spectra (VLT/UVES) are shown as well. For more high-resolution spectra, see the NGSL/UVES monitor page.
Examples:
A initial reduction of the entire NGSL/STIS library has been made available by Heap & Lindler (MAST).
Example: giant stars, range of effective temperatures
Example: dwarf stars, range of effective temperatures
Example: Hot dwarf stars, solar metallicity
Example: F dwarf stars, metallicity comparison, extension to 2.2 μm
Example: K giant stars, metallicity comparison, extension to 2.2 μm
Example: HD 138716, solar-metallicity K1III
Example: HD 165195, K41III, metal-poor (high-resolution, UVES)
